Who are you?
I am a 22-year-old computer science student from southern California. I am not a politician, I am not a member of the media, and I am not an active member of any PACs or other such political organizations. I am merely someone who is fed up with the current state of the "gay marriage" debate and I feel it is necessary to find another avenue to advance the "third way".
You must hate Christians!
Let me make something clear - I am a conservative Christian who believes in the Bible as the word of God. I do believe that homosexuality is ultimately sinful in the eyes of God. However, I believe that sin is not for government to dictate - sin is for God to judge alone. I believe that a man's actions only become the jurisdiction of human government when they infringe on the human rights of other people. Thus, while I will not personally recognize gay marriages as the same as straight marriages, I do not believe the government should be enforcing any such distinction. That is simply not the purpose of government.
For a Biblical grounding in the actual purpose and place of government, I refer you to I Samuel 8 and Romans 13. Then ask yourself - when Jesus saw the prostitute about to be stoned, did he ask the Romans and Pharisees for stronger fornication legislation? No - he protected and defended the woman, this sinner. She had hurt no one but herself and God. It is up to God to punish or forgive her.
